It is not reasonable that Ramses would have pursued the Hebrews along the length of Sinai from north to west and even to the last point in eastern Sinai and then caught up with them at the gulf because the speed of his army was greater than theirs. If he had pursued them, he would have caught up with them in the desert, not at the sea.
