Satan pokes every newborn, including the Prophet Muhammad, except for Jesus, so why?
Christians, as usual, are full of doubts that they do not understand and they croak about things they do not understand.
One of their most famous doubts is that Satan does not control Christ but controls every other human being.
The hadith in which the question is asked is
: “No child is born except that Satan pokes him and he cries out from the poking of Satan, except for the son of Mary and his mother.” Then Abu Hurayrah said: Read if you wish: “And I seek refuge for her and her offspring in You from Satan, the accursed.” And in another narration: “Every son of Adam is touched by Satan on the day his mother gives birth to him except for Mary and her son.” Narrated by Ahmad 2/233, Al-Bukhari 4548, and Muslim 2366.
The response:
First: The meaning of birth is when the newborn cries out for his first cry, as evidenced by the saying of the Prophet, may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him: “When he is born.”
- The nudge from the devil is a sign from him of his power and authority, and this is only in himself, and from the point of view of imagination that this newborn will be one of his followers, and Allah Almighty preserved Mary and his daughter Mary and her son from his nudge by the blessing of answering her mother’s supplication when she said {And I seek refuge for her in You and her offspring from Satan, the accursed}.
- Second: The nudge does not mean that the devil has power over the son of Adam, and that because of this nudge he has become one of his party, as there is no indication of that in this hadith, and the most that happens is that the devil nudges or pricks or strikes only, and this nudge is that the devil hopes to seduce the newborn, so it is as if he touches him and strikes him with his hand and says this is one of those who will be in my party and I will mislead him.
- Third: There is no criticism in this hadith of the infallibility of the prophets, as the devil’s touching of the newborn does not mean the devil has power over the newborn, rather the sincere servants of Allah are not harmed by that touch at all.
- This is similar to the saying of Allah the Almighty about our father Job, peace be upon him: {Indeed, Satan has touched me with hardship and torment}
- Fourth: The benefit of excluding Jesus and his mother is that Satan goes to touch them, so it is not possible and it does not necessarily mean that he has power over anyone other than them from the sincere ones.
- His saying: “There is no newborn” is clearly strong in its generality and comprehensiveness, and since He excluded the son of Mary and her son from it, and the apparent meaning of this is that Satan pokes all the children of Adam, even the prophets and saints, except the son of Mary and his mother, and if this were not the case, then the exclusivity of them is invalidated, and Qadi Iyad chose that all the prophets share in it.
- It is not understood from this that the poking of the prophets and saints is with various types of corruption and temptation, and despite that Allah protects them from what Satan seeks, as Allah the Almighty said: {Indeed, My servants - over them you have no authority}. And
we have a question left?
The Bible acknowledges that Christ was tested by Satan for 40 days, and the Bible used words that indicate Satan’s control, such as “He took him up the mountain,” etc. Does this mean that Christ was not immune from Satan’s control? Our final
supplication is that all praise is due to God, Lord of the Worlds.
