Testimonies of hostile and fair-minded Orientalists about the preservation of the text of the Noble Revelation .
Laura Veccica Vaglier, Defense of Islam, pp. 58, 59: “ We still have another proof of the divine source of the Qur’an in this fact: that its text remained pure and uncorrupted throughout the centuries that elapsed between its revelation and this day of the people, and that its text will remain in that state of purity and uncorruption, God willing, as long as the universe lasts.”

Laura Veccica Vaglier, In Defense of Islam, p. 59 : “ This book, which is recited every day throughout the Islamic world, does not cause the believer to feel bored. On the contrary, through repeated recitation it endears itself to the believers more and more day by day. It instills in the soul of those who recite it or listen to it a deep sense of awe and reverence. One can memorize it without difficulty, so that today, despite the decline of the wave of faith, we find thousands of people who are able to recite it by heart. In Egypt alone, the number of memorizers is greater than the number of those who are able to recite the Gospels by heart in the whole of Europe .”

Bosworth Smith, quoting from the book Two Contrasting Images Among the Sunnis and the Imami Shiites by Abu al-Hasan al-Nadwi, p. 69, says : “ We possess a book that is unique in its authenticity, integrity, and the dispersion of its materials, and yet no one has seriously doubted the essence of its truthfulness .”

The American orientalist and missionary Elwood Morris Wherry, says in his book Commentary of the Quran, vol. 1, p. 349 : “ The Quran is absolutely the furthest from confusion and annexation of the ancient scriptures, and is the most correct and authentic .”

The Lebanese Christian writer and researcher Nasri Salhab, distinguished by his objective view and his pursuit of the truth, says in his book The Encounter of Christianity and Islam, p. 337 : “ No book, before printing, regardless of its type or importance, was destined to receive the care and attention that the Qur’an received, nor to have the means that the Qur’an received to preserve it from loss and distortion, and to protect it from the impurities that can usually taint books.”

The English art critic and academic lecturer Rom Landau says in his book Islam and the Arabs, pp. 296-297 : “ .. The scribe of the revelation, Zaid bin Thabit, was tasked with collecting the Qur’anic verses in the form of a book, and Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) supervised this task. Later, following a renewed effort made by order of the Caliph Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him), the Qur’an took its final legislative form that has reached us intact and undistorted .”

Sir William Muir, one of the most biased against Islam and the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, says in his book Life of Mohammed, pp. 22-23, 1912 edition :Not even a quarter of a century had passed since the death of Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, when violent disputes arose and sects emerged. Uthman, may God be pleased with him, fell victim to these seditions, and these disputes still exist. However, the Qur’an remained the only book of these sects. The fact that all these sects relied on this book for recitation is clear evidence that the book in our hands today is the document that the wronged caliph ordered to be collected and written. Perhaps it is the only book in the world that has remained a text preserved from distortion for a thousand and two hundred years .” And in another place he says : “ Despite what the murder of Uthman himself led to in the rise of fanatical and rebellious sects that have shaken and continue to shake the unity of the Islamic world, one Qur’an has remained its entire Qur’an and its entire creed issued from one book despite the differences in eras. This in itself is conclusive evidence that what we have before us today is the complete text of the Qur’an that was compiled by the order of the unfortunate Caliph. It is most likely that there is no book in the entire world other than the Qur’an that has remained for twelve centuries preserving its text and accuracy. The conclusion that we can be assured of is that the Mushaf of Zaid and Uthman was not only accurate but was complete as evidenced by the facts, and that its compilers exerted enormous effort and did not neglect anything from the revelation. We can also confirm, based on the strongest evidence, that every verse in the Qur’an is accurate in its arrangement as Muhammad recited it. ”

British academic orientalist and archaeologist Lane Poole Poole, in his book Selection from the Quran, pc, says : " The greatest advantage of the Quran is that there is no doubt about its authenticity. Professor Reynold Alleyne Nicholson , one of the most important researchers in Sufism and Islamic studies, says in his book Literary History of the Arabs, p. 143 : " The Quran is a wonderful divine document, which accurately explains the secret of the actions of the Prophet Muhammad in all stages of his life, so that we find in it a unique material that does not accept doubt or debate, through which we can trace the course of Islam from its inception and appearance in its early history, and this is something we do not find a parallel for in Buddhism or Christianity or any of the ancient religions." He also says: “One of the most important factors influencing the progress of the Islamic religion is the Holy Qur’an, which originated from the divine revelation of the rulings through Gabriel. After Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, received that message, he conveyed it and read it to his followers and ordered some of them to write it on palm fronds, skins or bones so that it would remain accessible to the people. For this reason, that message remained preserved until it was recorded in the scrolls .”

Edward Henry Palmer, the English orientalist and colonial agent, says in his book The Quran Introduction, p. 70 : “ The text of the Qur’an, which Uthman arranged on the accepted scroll, has remained the text relied upon by the Muslims .”

The orientalist and British officer Ronald Victor Courtenay Bodley, says in the introduction to his book The Messenger: The Life of Mohammed, p. 6 :In our hands is a contemporary book that is unique in its authenticity and integrity, the authenticity of which has not been seriously doubted, and this book is the Qur’an. Today it is as it was the day it was first written under the supervision of Muhammad, and although the ideas were recorded on parchments, palm fronds and bones in strange moments, the original surahs and verses have been preserved. Then he says: The only Husayniyya in Zayd’s method was that it was faithful beyond suspicion. He did nothing to add paragraphs, or put in connecting sentences, or delete or copy details that would disgrace Islam. He worked with unimaginable sincerity, so that when he finished publishing the Qur’an, the book was the work of its author alone - that is, God Almighty - then he says: What is important is that the Qur’an is the only work that has lived for more than twelve centuries without being changed, and there is nothing that can be compared to this in the slightest comparison, neither in the Jewish religion nor in the Christian religion .

When we listen to some of its verses and the eloquence and magic they contain, we are overcome with a tremor of passion and ecstasy. After we delve into studying the spirit of legislation contained in some of those divine verses, we cannot help but glorify and sanctify this sublime book ."

Erb Thont, quoting from the book Orientalists' Opinions by Dr. Omar Ibrahim, p. 586, says : " The Qur'an has remained as it is until today without any distortion or alteration, neither by its enthusiasts, nor by its translators into other languages, nor by those who lie in wait for it. Unfortunately, this is a position that no book of the Old and New Testaments has taken ."
