The abrogating and the abrogated...in the Holy Bible
Christians often raise the issue of abrogating and abrogated in their speech, saying, “According to Muslims, God changes His commands and reverts to them, thus abrogating what He said before!!” The speaker often repeats what he heard and what he does not understand or comprehend, so he does not know that his book is full of abrogation and change!!
Abrogation in the language means removal
and in the terminology of the people of Islam: lifting the legal ruling with a later legal proof.
Abrogation does not mean that Allah first commanded or forbade and then an opinion appeared to Him and abrogated the first ruling, Allah is far above that, rather it means that Allah knew that this ruling would remain until a certain time and then be abrogated, so when the time came, He sent another ruling.
Since the time was not mentioned in the first ruling, when the second ruling came, it would be imagined due to the deficiency of our knowledge that it had changed. Its equivalent, without comparison, is that you assign your servant to a type of work and you intend that he will do this work until a year, for example, and after the year you assign him another work but you did not show your determination and intention to what you intended. If the year passes and you ask him to do another work, then according to the appearance of the servant and others, this is a change and contradiction to what you asked before, but in reality and with you, it is not a change.
In the abrogation of rulings there is wisdom and interests in view of the state of those assigned. And time and place. (Abridged from “Izhar Al-Haqq - Chapter Three”)
For example, Allah the Almighty has legislated marriage to one’s sister in the time of Adam, peace be upon him. The legislation was for a specific period that Adam and his descendants did not know about until Allah the Almighty revealed the ruling against marrying one’s sister. So
the legislation against marrying one’s sister was not a change in opinion, but rather the end of the period that Allah the Almighty determined in His wisdom to implement this ruling.
And so it is with the rest of the rulings.
We will present examples of abrogation in the Holy Book, whose proponents repeat the saying of abrogation as if it were a loophole and a weak point in Islam!!
First:
Brothers married sisters during the time of Adam, peace be upon him, and Abraham, peace be upon him, married his sister Sarah, as stated in (Genesis 20:12 “She is indeed my sister, the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; therefore I have taken her to be my wife”).
Marrying a sister was prohibited in the Law of Moses, peace be upon him, as stated in (Leviticus 18:9 “You shall not marry your sister, the daughter of your father, or the daughter of your mother, whether she was born at home or away from home”).
(Leviticus 20:17 “When a man marries His sister, his father’s daughter or his mother’s daughter, that is a disgrace, and they must be eradicated in front of his people.
Second : Marrying two sisters at the same time was permissible and acceptable. Jacob, peace be upon him, married two sisters and also had two of their concubines, according to what is stated in (Genesis 29:15-35).
It was forbidden to have two sisters together in (Leviticus 18:18 "You shall not take a wife in addition to your sister, to be a co-wife with her while your wife lives."), and Christianity currently forbids having two wives altogether, but without any text!!
Third : It is permissible in the law of Moses, peace be upon him, for a husband to divorce his wife for any reason, and for another man to marry that divorced woman.
(Deuteronomy 24:1-3 “If a man marries a young woman, and she does not please him afterward, because he has discovered some fault in her, and he gives her a certificate of divorce and sends her out of his house, 2and she marries another man after she has been divorced, 3and the second husband hates her and gives her a certificate of divorce and sends her out of his house, ...)
While according to the New Testament, the Lord Christ abolished or abrogated this ruling and said that divorce is not permissible except for the reason of adultery, and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery!!
(Matthew 5) 31And it was said again, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a certificate of divorce. 32But I say unto you, That every one that shall put away his wife, except for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and he that shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.")
Also" (Matthew 19:7 Then they asked him, Why then did Moses command to give the wife a certificate of divorce, and to put her away?",8 He answered, “Because of the hardness of your hearts, Moses allowed you to divorce your wives. But it has not been so from the beginning. 9But I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for the cause of fornication, and marries another, commits adultery. And whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.” )
And from the previous text it is clear that divorce did not exist at first, then it was approved during the time of Moses, peace be upon him, then it was abolished by the words of Jesus Christ!!
Fourth: Jesus Christ insisted throughout the time on calling only the Jews
(Matthew 15:24 And he answered: “I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”)
And Jesus Christ asked the disciples whom he sent to call only the children of Israel, saying:
(Matthew 10:5 These twelve Jesus sent out, and commanded them, saying: “Do not go into the way of the Gentiles, and do not enter a city of the Samaritans. 6 Rather, go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.)
Then he attributed to him the call to all nations in: (Matthew 28:19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations.....).
Fifth: Circumcision was God’s covenant with Abraham, an everlasting covenant (Genesis 17:13 “He who is born in your house, or he who is bought with your money, must be circumcised; and my covenant will be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.”).
Then Paul came and said:
(Galatians 5:2 “Behold, I, Paul, say to you, that if you are circumcised, Christ will profit you nothing. .... 6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision is of any use, but faith working through love.”
And in Galatians 6:15 “Circumcision is nothing, nor Not being circumcised is nothing, ..).
Sixth:
According to what came in the Gospel of John, they brought a woman to Jesus Christ and said that she was an adulteress and according to the law of Moses she was stoned, so what should be done? He cancelled the ruling and said, “Whoever among you is without sin, let him throw a stone at her,” and he said to her, “Do not sin again!!”
(John 8:4 They said to him, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. 5And Moses in the law commanded us that such a one should be stoned. What do you say?” .....He said to them, “Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her.” .....And Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you. Go and sin no more.”)
Seventh:
Texts of the Bible The Old Testament clearly states that eating pork is forbidden.
(Leviticus 11:7-8 “And the pig, because it divides the hoof and is cloven-hoofed, but does not chew the cud, is unclean to you. You shall not eat their flesh, and you shall not touch their carcasses; they are unclean to you.”)
The general permissibility was confirmed by Paul’s edict (Romans 14:14 “For I know, and am convinced by the Lord Jesus, that nothing is unclean in itself. But if anyone considers anything unclean, it is unclean in his own eyes.”)
And in (Titus 1:15 “To the pure all things are unclean.”) Pure. But to the unclean and unbelieving, nothing is pure; even their minds and their consciences have become unclean.
We conclude the copies in the Holy Bible with the copies in the same verse where they attributed to God Almighty that he said (according to the Holy Bible), you eat dung . So when the prophet said to him: Lord, I have done nothing bad, the Lord lightened the sentence on him and said: you eat cow dung (cow dung) instead of human dung !!
(Ezekiel 4:12And you shall eat barley cakes; you shall bake them with the dung that comes out of a man before their eyes.) 13And the LORD said, “Thus shall the children of Israel eat their unclean bread among the nations where I will drive them.” 14And I said, “Ah, Lord GOD! Behold, my soul is not defiled. From my youth until now I have not eaten anything that died of itself or that was torn by beasts, nor have I eaten anything that was torn by beasts.” “Unclean flesh has entered my mouth.” 15 Then he said to me, “See, I have given you cow’s dung instead of human dung, so you may make your bread on it.”
It's all disgusting in the book.
Praise be to God, Lord of the Worlds.
Praise be to God, Lord of the Worlds.
(Amos 7:3 And the Lord repented of this...).
(Jonah 3:10 And when God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way, God repented of the evil that He had said He would bring upon them, and He did not do it).
(Exodus 32:14 And the Lord repented of the evil which he said he would do to his people.)
(Jeremiah 42:10 If you will dwell in this land, I will build you and not pull you down; I will plant you and not pluck you up; for I repent of the evil that I have done to you.)
(1 Kings 21:15 And God sent an angel against Jerusalem to destroy it. And while he was destroying it, the Lord saw it, and repented of the evil, and said to the destroying angel, It is enough; now withdraw your hand.) And also: (2 Samuel 26:16).
(1 Samuel 15:11 I repent that I have made Saul king, because he has turned back from following me and has not performed my commandments.)
All of the above contradicts and conflicts with: (Numbers 23:19 God is not a man, that he should lie; nor a son of man, that he should repent. Has he said and will he not do it? Or has he spoken and will he not fulfill it?)
