The servant of the Lord whom he made a light for the nations and his salvation for the children of Israel in Isaiah 49 was not the Messiah but King Cyrus (Cyrus the Great) i.e. (the two-horned one).

The servant of the Lord whom he made a light for the nations and his salvation for the children of Israel in Isaiah 49 was not the Messiah but King Cyrus (Cyrus the Great) i.e. (the two-horned one).

Introduction:

We read from the Book of Isaiah:
49:1 Hearken unto me, O isles, and give ear, O ye nations from afar: the LORD hath called me from the womb: from my mother's womb he hath remembered my name.
49:2 And he made my mouth like a sharp sword: in the shadow of his hand he hid me, and made me like a sharpened arrow: in his quiver he hath made me.
49:3 And said unto me, Thou art my servant Israel, in whom I will be glorified.
49:4 But I said, I have laboured in vain: I have consumed my strength and in vain: but my judgment is with the LORD, and my work is with my God.
49:5 And now saith the LORD, which formed me from the womb to be his servant, to bring again Jacob unto him: and Israel shall be gathered unto him: and I shall be glorified in the sight of the LORD, and my God shall be my strength. 49
:6 But he said, It is a small thing that thou shouldest be my servant, to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to bring again the preserved of Israel : for I have made thee a light unto the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth.

Christian scholars try to interpret this text to refer to Jesus, peace be upon him, but the truth is that it is impossible for this text to apply to Jesus, peace be upon him, but it applies to Cyrus the Great, whom the Lord of the Worlds has already made a light to the nations, and he is the same Dhul-Qarnayn that the Holy Quran told us about in Surat Al-Kahf, and we confirm this from the same texts of the Book of Isaiah,

and this topic includes the following items:

The word (My servant Israel) in verse (49: 3) means the meaning of the word and not the name, i.e. God prevails

- From Isaiah 45, the Lord held Cyrus by the right hand and empowered him in the land to traverse the most difficult places on earth and teach people that there is no god but God

- According to Isaiah 45, Cyrus is the one who restored the children of Israel, and this is the same description of the servant of the Lord, the light of the nations in Isaiah 49

The salvation of the children of Israel and their transformation from captivity and humiliation to dignity and pride was not at the hands of one of its sons, but at the hands of Cyrus

A statue and pictures of Cyrus the Great wearing a crown with two horns

The influence of Cyrus the Great was greater than the influence of Alexander the Great, who was himself Fascinated by him

- The one meant by (Dhul-Qarnayn) in the Holy Qur’an is Cyrus, whom God Almighty empowered on earth, so he went to the most difficult places. He is the one who was spoken about in the Book of Daniel and the Book of Isaiah.

hypothetical

1- The word (My servant Israel) in the number (49:3) means the meaning of the word and not the name, i.e. God reigns:

We read in the Book of Isaiah describing the servant of God, whom he made a light to the nations:
49:3 And he said to me, You are my servant Israel, in whom I am glorified.

What was meant here was not the name Israel, but the meaning. The word Israel means in Hebrew (God prevails or triumphs).

From the blue letter bible about the word Israel:

יִשְׂרָאֵל
Israel = "Gods"

For more, see this link: -

It means that Abdullah is the one who will make the word of God prevail and triumph over everyone.

2- From Isaiah 45, the Lord held Cyrus by his right hand and established him in the land to traverse the most difficult places on earth and teach people that there is no god but God:-

Isaiah 49 says about the servant of the Lord:
49:6 And he said, It is a small thing that you should be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob and to restore the preserved of Israel. For I have made you a light to the Gentiles, that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth .
Indeed, Cyrus was the light of the nations, as Isaiah 45 made clear.

We read from the Book of Isaiah:
45:1 Thus saith the LORD to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have taken hold to subdue nations before him, and loose the loins of kings, to open before him the doors, and that the gates may not be shut
: 45:2 I will go before thee, and will level the high places; I will break down the gates of brass, and cut in pieces the bars of iron
: 45:3 And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden treasures: that thou mayest know that I am the LORD, which calleth thee by name, the God of Israel
: 45:4 For Jacob my servant's sake, and Israel my chosen one: I have called thee by name: I have girded thee, though thou hast not known me:
45:5 I am the LORD, and there is none else: there is no God besides me: I have girded thee, though thou hast not known me
: 45:6 That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the setting thereof, that there is none besides me: I am the LORD, and there is none else:
45:7 I form the light, and create darkness; I make peace, and create evil: I am the LORD, which doth all these things.
45:8 Rain down, O heavens, from above, and let the skies pour down righteousness: that the earth may open, that they may bring forth salvation, and let righteousness spring up together: I am the LORD. I created it

A- Verse (45:1) says about Cyrus that he is the Lord’s anointed, meaning that he is a faithful king:

The title (the Lord’s Messiah) is given only to righteous kings and we have not seen it given to any corrupt king. Our master David, peace be upon him, was given it (2 Samuel 23:1). It was not given to Nebuchadnezzar, nor any king of the Assyrian kings, nor Pharaoh, despite their strength. This is evidence that Cyrus was a king who believed in God Almighty.

We read in the Book of Isaiah:
45:1 Thus says the Lord to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have taken hold of, to subdue nations before him, and loose the loins of kings, to open doors before him, so that the gates will not be shut.

B- The numbers (from 45:1 to 45:3) say that God Almighty gave victory to the servant of the Lord over his enemies and empowered him on earth, so he swept through the hills (i.e. he went to the most difficult places):

This is what actually happened with King Cyrus the Great, who established the largest Persian empire in the world.

We read about him from the Encyclopedia of Knowledge:
(The empire expanded under his rule to include Southwest Asia, most of Central Asia, and most of the regions on the edge of the Indian Empire, thus creating the largest empire the world had ever seen up to that time)
End.

And we read from the Second Book of Chronicles:
36:23 Thus says Cyrus king of Persia, “The Lord God of heaven has given me all the kingdoms of the earth, and he has charged me to build him a house in Jerusalem, which is in Judah. Who among you of all his people will the Lord his God be with him and let him go up ?”

We read in the Holy Quran about Dhul-Qarnayn:
God Almighty said: ( And they ask you about Dhul-Qarnayn. Say, "I will recite to you about him a report." (83) Indeed, We established him upon the earth and gave him a way to everything. (84) So he followed a way. (85)) God Almighty’s truth (Surat Al-Kahf)

C- Verse (45:6) says that everything he achieved was in order to teach people that there is no god but God:

We read from the Book of Isaiah:
45:6 That they may know from the rising of the sun and from the west that besides me there is none, I am the LORD, and there is none else.

Everything that Cyrus achieved in terms of empowerment in the land, subjugation of nations, and helping the Children of Israel to be saved from the Babylonians and return to their country was for the sake of the people, that there is no god but God. This number was the greatest evidence that Cyrus was a believing king and was a light for the nations.

3- According to Isaiah 45, Cyrus is the one who restored the children of Israel, and this is the same description of the servant of the Lord, the Light of the Nations, in Isaiah 49:

We read about the description of the servant of the Lord, who is the light of the nations, in the Book of Isaiah 49:
49:5 And now says the LORD who formed me from the womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob back to him, and that Israel may be gathered to him, that I may be glorified in the sight of the LORD, and my God shall be my strength.
49:6 And he said, It is a small thing that you should be my servant, to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to bring back the preserved of Israel . For I have made you a light to the Gentiles, that you may be my salvation to the end of the earth.

It is the same description of Cyrus in Isaiah 45.

We read from the Book of Isaiah 45:
45:1 Thus saith the LORD to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have taken hold of, To subdue nations before him, And loose the loins of kings, To open before him the doors, That the gates may not be shut:
45:2 I will go before thee, And will level the high places; I will break down the gates of brass, And cut in pieces the bars of iron.

Then we read:
45:4 For the sake of my servant Jacob, And Israel my chosen one, I have called thee by name; I have surnamed thee, though thou knowest not me.

We also read from the Book of Isaiah:
44:28 “He who says of Cyrus, ‘He is my shepherd, and he will fulfill all my desire.’” And he says of Jerusalem, “It will be rebuilt, and the foundation of the temple will be laid. ”

4- The salvation of the Children of Israel and their transformation from captivity and humiliation to dignity and pride was not at the hands of one of its sons, but at the hands of Cyrus:

Completing the description of the servant of the Lord, the Light of the Nations, he says that after the salvation of the children of Israel at his hands, they were transformed from humiliated to honorable.

We read from the Book of Isaiah:
49:6 And he said, It is a small thing that you should be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: for I have given you for a light to the Gentiles, that my salvation may reach to the end of the earth.
49:7 Thus says the LORD, the Redeemer of Israel, his Holy One, to him who is despised in soul, to him who is despised by the nation, to the servant of rulers: Kings shall see, and rise up; princes shall worship, because of the LORD, who is faithful, and the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen you.

That is, at the hand of the servant of the Lord, whom God Almighty made a light for the nations, the children of Israel were transformed from being humiliated and degraded in the Babylonian captivity to being honorable.

This is the same thing that happened at the hands of Cyrus when he brought them back from captivity and allowed them to return to Palestine, and honored them after their humiliation and enslavement in the land.

A- The evidence that what is meant by “humiliated soul” here is the Children of Israel is read in other texts from the Book of Isaiah:

We read from the Book of Isaiah:
51:7 Hear me, you who know righteousness . “O people in whose heart is my law, do not fear the reproach of men, nor be dismayed by their insults.” The one meant by those who are insulted and reproached is the children of Israel.

We also read:
52:5 Now therefore, what have I here, saith the LORD ? That I have taken my people for naught, and their rulers cry out, saith the LORD: and my name shall be dishonored continually, every day.
52:6 Therefore shall my people know my name; therefore in that day shall they know that I am he that speaketh. Behold, I am he.

That is, the people of the Children of Israel are the ones who are dominated by others, who shout at them and make fun of them.

And we also read:
61:7 Instead of your shame, double, and instead of disgrace, they will rejoice in their portion. Therefore they will inherit double in their land; everlasting joy will be theirs.

B- King Cyrus is the one through whom God Almighty brought salvation and glory to the Children of Israel after their humiliation:

It was not one of the children of Israel who God Almighty made their glory through, but the relief came from a believer who was not from the children of Israel.

We read from the Book of Isaiah:
51:17 Arise, arise, arise, O Jerusalem, which has drunk at the hand of the LORD the cup of his wrath; it has drunk the dregs of the cup of reeling, and sucked out.
51:18 She has none to guide her of all the children she has borne, nor any to take her hand of all the children she has reared.

So God Almighty made salvation at the hands of the faithful King Cyrus.

We read from the Second Book of Chronicles:
36:20 And they that were left from the sword carried away captive to Babylon, and they were his servants and his sons' servants until the kingdom of Persia reigned.
36:21 That the word of the LORD might be fulfilled by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had had its sabbaths: for the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah was fulfilled, to fulfill seventy years.
36:22 And in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, and he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and also in writing, saying,
36:23 Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, The LORD God of heaven hath given me all the kingdoms of the earth and he hath charged me to build him an house in Jerusalem, which is in Judah: Who is there of you of all his people? The LORD his God is with him, and let him go up.

Also in the book of
Ezra (1:1 to 1:4)

This confirms that King Cyrus was a man who believed in God Almighty, so he listened to God Almighty’s orders and commandments.

We also read from the Book of Ezra:
5:12 But after our fathers had provoked the God of heaven to anger, he delivered them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon the Chaldean, who destroyed this house and carried the people away to Babylon.
5:13 Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Babylon, Cyrus the king issued a decree to build this house of God.
5:14 Even the vessels of this house of God, of gold and silver, which Nebuchadnezzar had taken out of the temple that was in Jerusalem and brought to the temple that was in Babylon, Cyrus the king took them out of the temple that was in Babylon and gave them to one named Sheshbazzar, whom he had made governor.
5:15 And he said to him, Take these vessels, and go, carry them to the temple that is in Jerusalem, and let the house of God be built in its place.
5:16 Then came this Sheshbazzar, and laid the foundation of the house of God that is in Jerusalem; and from that time until now it has been built, and it is not finished.

That is, after the house of the Lord in Jerusalem was destroyed and the children of Israel were taken captive to Babylon, Nebuchadnezzar came and freed the children of Israel from captivity and returned them to Palestine and ordered the rebuilding of the house of the Lord again, so he transformed the children of Israel from humiliation and disgrace to glory and dignity before the nations.

We will see in the English Wikipedia a picture of Cyrus the Great wearing a crown of two horns in this link: -

6- The influence of Cyrus the Great was greater than that of Alexander the Great, who himself was fascinated by him:

From the English Wikipedia encyclopedia we read about Cyrus the Great:

Legacy
British historian Charles Freeman suggests that " In scope and extent of his achievements [Cyrus] ranked far above that of the Macedonian king, Alexander, who was to demolish the [Achaemenid] empire in the 320s but fail to provide any stable alternative."[ 101]

As we read:
Alexander the Great was himself infatuated with and admired Cyrus the Great, from an early age reading Xenophon's Cyropaedia, which described Cyrus's heroism in battle and governance and his abilities as a king and a legislator.[98]

Translation:-
British historian Charles Freeman points out that “ his [Cyrus’] achievements were far superior in scope and reach to those of the Macedonian king, Alexander, who demolished the [Achaemenid] empire in 320 BC but failed to provide any stable alternative.”

Then we read:
Alexander the Great himself was fascinated by and admired Cyrus the Great from a young age as he read Xenophon's Cyropaedia, which described Cyrus's heroism in battle and governance and his abilities as a king and lawgiver.

7- The one meant by (Dhul-Qarnayn) in the Holy Qur’an is Cyrus, whom God Almighty empowered on earth, so he went to the most difficult places. He is the one who was spoken about in the Book of Daniel and the Book of Isaiah:

When the Lord of the Worlds told us the story of Dhul-Qarnayn in Surat Al-Kahf in the Holy Quran, what was meant was Cyrus the Persian king, not Alexander the Great the Macedonian Greek king. When we go back to the verses of Surat Al-Kahf, we will know that the beginning of the story was with a question from people (to the Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, about a person they called (Dhul-Qarnayn), and Dhul-Qarnayn mentioned in the Old Testament is explained in the same text as a symbol of the kings of Persia and Media (Daniel 8:6, 20) , and not one of the kings of Greece. That is, the Holy Quran was in fact talking about (Cyrus) and not Alexander the Great, for Cyrus is the one whose right hand the Lord held to teach people in the farthest parts of the earth to worship the Lord of the Worlds (Isaiah 45:6) , as we will see in detail, God willing.

A- The beginning of the story of Dhul-Qarnayn in Surat Al-Kahf in the Holy Quran was with a question from some people to the Messenger about him:

God Almighty said: “ And they ask you about Dhul-Qarnayn. Say, ‘I will recite to you about him a report.’” (83) (Surat Al-Kahf)

Which means that there was a people who had a person known by the title of Dhul-Qarnayn, and when we go back to the Old Testament we will indeed find the title (the owner of the two horns), but who is meant by Dhul-Qarnayn in the Old Testament?

B- According to the Book of Daniel, the two-horned one is a symbol of the kings of Persia and Media, while the one-horned one is a symbol of the kings of Greece:

8:4 I saw the ram pushing westward, northward, and southward; and no beast could stand before him, nor could any deliver him out of his hand. He did according
to his will and became great . 8:5 And as I was considering, behold, a he goat came from the west over the face of the whole earth, and did not touch the ground. And the goat had a notable horn between his eyes. 8:6
And he came to the ram that had the two horns, which I had seen standing by the river, and ran toward him with all his might.
8:7 And I saw him come to the side of the ram, and he was furious with him, and smote the ram, and broke his two horns; but the ram had no strength to stand before him. And he cast him down to the ground, and trampled him down; and there was no one to deliver the ram out of his hand.

Then we read:
8:20 The ram which you saw having two horns is the kings of Media and Persia.
8:21 The wild goat is the king of Greece, and the great horn between his eyes is the first king.

Cyrus was a Persian king, he was Dhul-Qarnayn (the owner of two horns), as for the goat, he had only one horn and is a symbol of Alexander the Great, who later defeated the Persian kings when they became corrupt after Cyrus the Great. That is, when the Holy Qur’an was telling us, it was telling us the story of Cyrus the Dhul-Qarnayn.

C- According to the Book of Isaiah, Cyrus the Persian was a righteous king whom God Almighty empowered on earth until he crossed the most difficult places and taught people to worship the Lord of the Worlds. This is the same description of the Holy Qur’an for (Dhul-Qarnayn):

Cyrus is the righteous king (Isaiah 45:1) whose right hand the Lord held and established him on earth to teach people to worship the Lord of the worlds (Isaiah 45:6).

We read from the Book of Isaiah:
45:1 Thus saith the LORD to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have taken hold of, to subdue nations before him, and loose the loins of kings, to open before him the doors, and the gates shall not be shut:
45:2 I will go before thee, and will level the high places; I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in pieces the bars of iron
: 45:3 And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden treasures: that thou mayest know that I am the LORD, which calleth thee by thy name, the God of Israel
: 45:4 For Jacob my servant's sake, and Israel my chosen, I have called thee by name: I have named thee, though thou knowest me not
: 45:5 I am the LORD, and there is none else: there is no God besides me: I have girded thee, and thou hast not known me:
45:6 That they may know from the rising of the sun and from the setting thereof that there is none besides me: I am the LORD, and there is none else.

Meaning, Cyrus was a righteous king who worshipped God Almighty, so God Almighty enabled him to walk on the earth by making him walk in front of him and paved the hills for him, etc., so he was able to traverse the most difficult places on earth and taught people to worship the Lord of the Worlds. Meaning, the Holy Quran meant by Dhul-Qarnayn Cyrus the Great, for he was the one with the two horns whom God Almighty enabled to control the earth until he undertook an amazing and difficult journey (and this is the difference between the Holy Quran and the Book of Isaiah because the journey of Dhul-Qarnayn in the Holy Quran meant his arrival to the Americas, which I will talk about in detail, God willing).
Now we will see what the Holy Quran says about (Dhul-Qarnayn).

Allah the Almighty said: “And they ask you about Dhul-Qarnayn. Say, ‘I will recite to you about him a report.’ (83) Indeed, We established him upon the earth and gave him from every thing a way . (84) So he followed a way. (85) Until, when he reached the setting of the sun, he found it setting in a spring of murky water. And he found near it a people. We said, ‘O Dhul-Qarnayn, either you punish them or you take good care of them.’” (86) He said, “As for he who wronged, We will punish him; then he will be returned to his Lord, and He will punish him with a terrible punishment.” (87) But as for he who believed and did righteousness, he will have the best reward, and We will speak to him from Our command with ease. (88) Then he followed a way. (89) Until, when he reached the rising of the sun, he found it rising on a people for whom We had not made against it any shield. (90) Thus it is, and We have encompassed (91) Then he followed a way (92) until, when he reached between the two barriers, he found beyond them a people who could hardly understand a word. (93) They said, “O Dhul-Qarnayn, indeed Gog and Magog are corrupters in the land. So may we assign to you an expenditure on condition that you place between us and them a barrier?” (94) He said, “That in which my Lord has established me is better, so help me with strength. I will place (95) Bring me sheets of iron. Until, when he had leveled between the two mountain-sides, he said, “Blow.” Until, when he had made it into fire, he said, “Bring me molten copper, that I may pour over it.” (96) But they could not scale it, nor could they pierce it. (97) He said, “This is a mercy from my Lord. But when the promise of my Lord comes to pass, He will make it level, and ever is the promise of my Lord true.” (98) (Surat Al-Kahf)
