 Who is crucified?!

One of them said: Islam came after Christianity by several centuries to deny the crucifixion incident with verses that say: {And their saying, “Indeed, we killed the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, the Messenger of Allah.” But they killed him not, nor did they crucify him, but it was made to appear so to them. And indeed, those who differ about it are in doubt about it. They have no knowledge of it except the following of assumption. And they did not kill him, for certain. * Rather, Allah raised him up to Himself. And ever is Allah Exalted in Might and Wise. * And indeed, among the People of the Scripture were those who were among the disbelievers.} Except that they will believe in him before his death
. And on the Day of Resurrection he will be a witness against them. [An-Nisa’: 157-159]

The gist of his objection is as follows:

1 - The Jews and Christians say that Christ was crucified. In fact, there was an incident of crucifixion, and the Muslims deny that.

2 - If the words of the Qur’an are true, then who is the crucified person whom the people saw on the cross?!

ـــــ ـــــ

The response to the doubt: -

First: The objector’s statement that the Jews and Christians say: Christ was crucified in reality is a lie, as not all Jews are certain of the crucifixion of Christ in reality.

As for his statement, quoting them (the Jews and Christians):
“There was indeed a crucifixion incident,” this is true and no one can deny it. The Qur’an did not deny the occurrence of the crucifixion incident, but rather denied it only for Christ. There was another person who was actually crucified.

As for his second objection and his statement that Christianity existed several centuries before Islam, and Islam came to deny this incident with verses in the Qur’an,

I said: His statement has no value because people may pass on
weak ideas and stories throughout the ages that have no basis in truth. This is indicated by two things:

The first: That Christ, according to the Gospels, was correcting the Jews’ wrong ideas and false perceptions of the texts that they passed on from one another for a long time, such as: Students not washing their hands

ــــ

Second: Some Muslims have been passing on stories about the Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, for centuries that are not authentic except to those who know how to interpret them, such as the story of the cranes or the story of the dove and the spider in the cave and the snake biting Abu Bakr and many other unauthentic hadiths

ــــ

Second: As for the objector’s statement: If the words of the Qur’an are authentic, then who is the crucified person that people saw on the cross?!
I said: The verses of the Qur’an did not explicitly mention the details of this incident
, nor did our Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, mention it. Rather, they are the efforts of the commentators. Then, the texts of the Gospels contain clear contradictions, so it is the right of the researcher to express his efforts regarding this incident. We must accept, before these efforts, several certainties from which we do not deviate

. ــــ

First: God saved Christ from being killed and crucified for several reasons, including:

1 - The Almighty’s saying: {And their saying, “Indeed, we killed the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, the Messenger of Allah.” But they killed him not, nor did they crucify him, but it was made to appear so to them. And indeed, those who differ about it are in doubt about it. They have no knowledge of it except the following of assumption. And they did not kill him, for certain. * Rather, Allah raised him up to Himself. And ever is Allah Exalted in Might and Wise.} [An-Nisa’: 157-158]

ــــ

2 - The Epistle to the Hebrews Chapter 5, Verse 7

7 He took delight in the days of his flesh, when he offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears to him who was able to save him from death, and he was heard because of his fear.

We note “and he was heard because of his fear,” meaning: God accepted his prayer and saved him from being killed

. ــــ

ــــ Second: That Christ was raised to God alive in spirit and body is indicated by the following:

1 - The Almighty’s saying {Rather, God raised him up to Himself, and God is Exalted in Might and Wise.} [An-Nisa’: 158]

ـــــ ـــــ

2 - The Gospel of John, Chapter 20, Verse 16

16 Jesus said to her, “Mary.” She turned and said to him,
“Rabboni! 17 Jesus

said to her, “Do not touch me, for I have not yet ascended to my Father. But go to my brothers and say to them, ‘I am ascending to my Father
and your Father, to my God and your God.’”

18 Then Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord,
and that he had said these things to her.

3 - The Gospel of Luke, Chapter 22 66

And when it was day, the elders of the people came together, the chief priests
and the scribes, and brought him into their council,

67 saying, “If you are the Christ, tell us! “He said to them:
‘If I tell you, you will not believe me. ’

68 ‘And if I ask, you will not answer me, nor will you let me go. ’

69 ‘From now on the Son of Man will be sitting at the right hand of the power of God. ’”

We have returned to the objector’s question. Who is the crucified one?!
I said: It is Thomas (the disciple of Christ). This is what appears to me through reading the Gospels, and this is clear through the narration of the story in these texts as follows:

1 - I begin with the story of the substitute and what Jesus and Judas know that the rest of the disciples do not know. It is stated in the Gospel of John, Chapter 13 :
Verse 21

21 When Jesus had said this, he was troubled in spirit and testified, saying,
“Most assuredly, I say to you, one of you will betray me. 22 And

the disciples looked at one another, perplexed about whom he spoke

. 23 Now there was reclining on Jesus’ bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved.

24 Simon Peter motioned to him, that he should ask who it was of whom he spoke.

25 And he leaned back on Jesus’ breast and said to him,
“Lord, who is it?” 26

Jesus answered, “It is he to whom I will give the sop when I have dipped it.” So he dipped the sop and gave it to Judas Iscariot, son of Simon.

27 After the sop, Satan entered into him. Jesus said to him, “What you are doing, do quickly.”

28 But no one at the table understood why he said this to him. 29 For some, when they had eaten, said, “Do

quickly. ” The box was with Judas. They thought that Jesus had said to him: “Buy what we need for the feast, or give something to the poor.”

2 - Jesus motivates the disciples to serve him and redeem him from death
in several places:

First: The Gospel of John, Chapter 12, Verse 25

25 “He who loves his life will lose it, but he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.”

26 “If anyone serves me Let him follow me, and where I am, there will my servant be also. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.”

27 “Now my soul is troubled, and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour! But for this purpose I came to this hour.”

28 “Father, glorify your name!” Then a voice came from heaven,
“I have glorified it, and I will glorify it again. 29

The crowd that stood by and heard it said, “It has thundered!” Others said, “An angel has spoken to him!” 30

Jesus answered and said, “This voice has not come because of me, but because of you.”

31 “Now is the judgment of this world; now the prince of this world will be cast out.”

John 18:36

36 Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, then my servants would fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews. But now My kingdom is not from here.”

The third: The Gospel of Mark, Chapter 8, Verse 34

34 And he called the crowd together with his disciples and said to them, “Whoever desires to come after me must deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.”

35 “For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it.”

36 “For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul?”

37 “Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?”

38 “For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.” ــــ

ــــ

3 - Jesus, who always flees from the Jews, stands and receives Judas, to fulfill what is written, Gospel of Luke, Chapter 22, Verse 39

39 And he went out and went, as was his custom, to the Mount of Olives, and his disciples also followed him.

40 And when he came to 41 And he withdrew from them

about a stone's throw, and knelt down and prayed,

42 saying, "Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me; nevertheless not my will, but yours, be done."

43 And an angel from heaven appeared to him, strengthening him .

44 And being in an agony, he prayed even more fervently. 45

Then he rose from prayer and came to his disciples and found them sleeping for sorrow

. 46 And he said to them, “Why are you sleeping? 47 While he was still speaking,

a crowd came up, and the one called Judas, one of the twelve, went ahead of them and came to kiss Jesus .

48 Jesus said to him, “Judas, do you betray the Son of Man with a kiss?”

49 When those around him saw what was happening, they said, “Lord, shall we be smitten with the sword?” 50

And one of them struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear.

51 And Jesus answered and said, Suffer this man. And he touched his ear,
and healed him .

52 Then Jesus said to the chief priests, and the captains of the temple,
and the elders, who were coming to him, “You have come out as against a robber, with swords
and clubs.

53 “When I was with you daily in the temple, you did not lay hands on me.
But this is your hour and the power of darkness.” ــــ

ــــ

4 - The moment of the trial and the denial of the crucified one that he is Jesus Christ but another, the Gospel of Luke, Chapter 22, Verse 66

66 And when it was day, the elders of the people gathered together: the chief priests
And the scribes brought him into their council,

67 saying, “If you are the Christ, tell us.” But he said to them,
“If I tell you, you will not believe me.

68 And if I ask you, you will not answer me, nor will you let me go.

69 From now on the Son of Man will be sitting at the right hand of the power of God.”

70 Then they all said, “Are you then the Son of God? "And he said to them,
"You say that I am he."

ـــــ ـــــ

5 - It is possible that Thomas was the one who was crucified for the following reasons:

1 - Thomas is the same as Christ (the twin) and that is in the Gospel of John, Chapter 20, Verse 24

24 But Thomas, one of the twelve, who is called the Twin, was not with them when Jesus came.

2 - Thomas is the only one who said to the disciples, "Let us die with (Jesus)"
and that is in the Gospel of John, Chapter 11, Verse 16

16 Then Thomas, who is called the Twin, said to his fellow disciples,

3 - After the alleged resurrection, Thomas was not with the disciples,
according to Luke 24:33.

33 So they rose up that same hour and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven gathered together, they and those who were with them. This

text explains what is stated in John 20:24.
24

But Thomas, one of the twelve, called the Twin, was not with them when Jesus came.

It may be said: Jesus met Thomas after the resurrection, as John says that Thomas appeared on the eighth day with Jesus after the resurrection.

I said: The resurrection that is being talked about is an alleged resurrection for several reasons, including:

1 - That the Jews - the scribes and Pharisees - who asked Jesus to show them a sign, so he told them that he had a sign like Jonah. Despite that, the Gospels did not mention that any of the scribes or Pharisees saw Jesus after the resurrection to prove to them that he rose from the dead on the third day and fulfill his promise to them. He came That is in the Gospel of Matthew, Chapter 12, Verse 38

38 Then some of the scribes and Pharisees answered, saying ,
“Teacher, we want to see a sign from you.”

39 But he answered and said to them, “An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah

. 40 For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be in the heart of the world.” The Earth for three days
and three

nights

2 - After the resurrection, the Gospels mention that he met with the eleven disciples, while Thomas was not present, as we mentioned before, and Judas committed suicide.

The question remains: What are the names of the eleven disciples, or did the incident not happen?! 3 - We find that Simon Peter did not see Jesus after the alleged resurrection, but only saw the shrouds placed, while he was attributed to the meeting with Jesus when he rose from the grave , and

this is a clear contradiction that makes us doubt the resurrection. What came before is as follows: A - Jesus appeared to Simon, and that is in the Gospel of Luke, Chapter 24, Verse 34, and they say that the Lord truly rose and appeared to Simon. B - Simon Peter only saw the shrouds, and that is in the Gospel of John, Chapter 20, Verse 3 3 Then Peter went out, and the other disciple, and 4 And they ran both together: and the other disciple outran Peter , and came first to the tomb. 5 And he stooped down, and saw the linen cloths lying, but went not in . 6 Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb, and saw the linen cloths lying, 7 and the napkin that was about his head, not lying with the linen cloths, but wrapped in a One place alone ــــ ــــ 4 - The contradictory testimony of the Marians about the timing of the visit to Jesus' tomb shows the invalidity of the resurrection in the first place, and that is in the following: A - The Gospel of John, Chapter 20, Verse 1 1 Now on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb early , while it was still dark, and saw the stone taken away from the tomb. B - The Gospel of Mark, Chapter 16, Verse 1 1 And when the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought 2 Very early on the first day of the week, they came to the tomb when the sun had risen. End
