Satan inspired Prophet?

The oppressors of Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, base this statement on a lie that was transmitted by

some books of interpretation, that he, may God bless him and grant him
peace, used to recite Surat An-Najm in prayer with the people. When he, may God bless him and grant him peace, reached the verse of God Almighty: (Have you considered Al-Lat and Al-Uzza? And Manat, the third, the other?)
(1); the lie says
that he, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: - according to their claim - those are the exalted cranes (2) and their intercession is to be hoped for. Then he, may
God bless him and grant him peace, continued reciting, then he prostrated and all the Muslims who were behind him prostrated,
and the narrations added that those who were behind them from the polytheists prostrated with them!!
And the lie that became known as the story of “the cranes” spread, and he said - whoever spread it in their favor -
that Muhammad praised our gods and retracted the insults he had directed at them. And the polytheists of Mecca will reconcile with him
and will protect the believers in him from the torment they were inflicting upon them.
This saying spread until a number of commentators mentioned it, where they mentioned that the polytheists prostrated as
Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, prostrated and said to him: You have never mentioned our gods with goodness before today, but this talk
is false and has no basis.
We quote here from Imam Ibn Kathir in his interpretation of the verses that he considered the basis on which the oppressors
of Islam and its Messenger relied, and they are in Surat Al-Hajj where it says:
(And We did not send before you any messenger or prophet except that when he spoke, Satan cast into his speech. But God nullifies
that which Satan casts; then God confirms His verses. And God is Knowing and Wise) (3). After mentioning the two previous verses, he says:
“Many commentators mentioned here the story of “the cranes” and the return of many of those who migrated to
Abyssinia, thinking that the polytheists of Mecca had converted to Islam.
Then Ibn Kathir added saying: But it - that is, the story of the "cranes" - is from many disconnected paths and I did not see it
attributed from a correct source, then Ibn Kathir said: (4) On the authority of Ibn Abi Hatim on his authority to Saeed bin Jubair,
he said: "The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, recited in Mecca "Surat An-Najm" and when he reached this place:
(Have you considered Al-Lat and Al-Uzza * And Manat, the third, the other (. Ibn Jubair said: Then Satan put on his tongue:
Those are the exalted cranes, and their intercession is to be hoped for.
So the polytheists said: He did not mention our gods with goodness before today.. So God revealed this verse: (And We did not send before you
any messenger or prophet except that when he spoke, Satan cast into his speech. Then God nullifies what Satan casts, then
God establishes His verses, and God is Exalted in Might and Wise (to establish the infallibility and protection of His words, glory be to Him, from the whisperings of Satan.
And perhaps it was said here: If God Almighty abrogates what Satan casts and establishes His verses, then why did He not prevent Satan
from casting what he casts of whispers in wishes? The prophets
and the answer to it came in the two verses that come directly after this verse:
First: To make what Satan casts a trial for those in whose hearts is disease among the hypocrites and those whose hearts are hardened
among the disbelievers, which is what came in the first verse of them: To make what Satan casts a trial for those in whose hearts
is disease) (5).
Second: To distinguish the believers from the infidels and hypocrites, so that the believers may increase in faith upon their faith; which is what came
in the second verse: “And that those who have been given knowledge may know that it is the truth from your Lord, and believe in it, and their hearts may submit to it
. And indeed, Allah is the Guide of those who believe to a straight path.” (6)
This: Scholars, both ancient and modern, have invalidated the story of the cranes. Among the ancients is Imam Al-Fakhr Al-Razi, who
said in summary (7):
“The story of the cranes is false according to the people of investigation, and they have proven its falsehood with the Qur’an, the Sunnah, and reason
. As for the Qur’an, it has several aspects: including the Almighty’s saying: “And if he had fabricated against Us some sayings, We would have seized him by the right hand
, then We would have cut from him the aorta, and none of you could have prevented Him from it” (8).
And His saying, glory be to Him: “He does not speak from [his own] inclination. It is only a revelation revealed” (9). And His saying, glory be to Him, narrating from His Messenger, may God bless him and grant him peace : “Say:
It is not for me to change it of my own accord. I only follow what
is revealed to me” (10). As for its falsehood with the Sunnah, Imam Al-Bayhaqi says: Imam Al-Bukhari narrated in his Sahih that the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, recited Surat An-Najm and prostrated, and the Muslims, polytheists, humans, and jinn prostrated in it, and the hadith of the cranes is not in it . This hadith has been narrated through many chains of transmission, in which there is absolutely no hadith of the cranes. As for the falsehood of the story of Al-Gharaniq: “According to reason, there are several aspects, including: A - Whoever permits the Messenger’s glorification of idols has committed blasphemy, because it is known by necessity that his greatest effort, may God bless him and grant him peace, was to deny idols and prohibit their worship; so how can it be rationally permissible for him to praise them B - Among them: If we permitted that, then security would be removed from his law, may God bless him and grant him peace, because there is no difference - in the logic of reason - between a deficiency in the transmission of God’s revelation and an increase in it. (1) An-Najm: 19-20. (2) What is meant by Al-Gharaniq: idols; and the polytheists used to call them that, likening them to white birds that soar in the sky. (3) Al-Hajj: 52. (4) From: Al-Tafsir Al-Wasit li-Qur’an by Sheikh Al-Azhar Dr. Tantawi, Vol. 9, p. 325 and after. (5) Al-Hajj: 53. (6) Al-Hajj: 54. (7) The previous interpretation: p. 321. (8) Al-Haqqah: 44-47. (9) An-Najm: 3-4. (10) Yunus: 15.
