Reply to the slander that Satan cast into his wish and what Satan cast into the wish of the Messenger of Islam
And We did not send before you any messenger or prophet except that when he made a wish, Satan cast into his wish. But Allah nullifies what Satan cast into it. Then Allah confirms His verses. And Allah is Knowing and Wise. The Christians and other enemies of Islam
and haters believe that the meaning of this verse is that Satan cast something into the recitation of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and inspired it to him, so he recited it to his people until they reached the conclusion that this Qur’an was inspired by Satan, God forbid. We say first that the response to this slander can be from several aspects.
The first is that the Qur’an is the word of God, whose recitation is an act of worship. It was brought down by the trustworthy spirit, Gabriel, peace and blessings be upon him, to the heart of the trustworthy Prophet. He said, “Indeed, it is We who sent down the Qur’an, and indeed, it is We who sent down the Qur’an.” Guardians, meaning that Allah the Most High is the one who sent down this Qur’an and promised to protect it from all distortion and change until it is removed from the chests and copies of the Qur’an at the end of time.
Secondly, this Qur’an is not from Satan, but rather it is from Allah the Most High. Allah the Most High said: “And the devils did not bring it down, nor is it befitting for them, nor are they able to do so. So how could it be from Satan , Allah forbid ?”
Thirdly, this Qur’an is not from Satan , but rather it is the word and speech of the Lord of the Worlds. Allah the Most High said: “And it is not the word of an outcast devil.”
Fourthly, this Qur’an calls for the worship of Allah, the One, the Subduer, and the entire Qur’an supports that. If it were from Satan, Allah forbid, mankind would not have been warned against worshipping Satan and befriending him. Allah the Most High said: “Did I not enjoin upon you, O children of Adam, that you not worship Satan - indeed, he is to you a clear enemy - and that you worship Me - this is a straight path? And he has certainly led astray many a mountain from among you. So did you not use reason?” And Allah the Most High said: “Then will you take him and his descendants as allies instead of Me, while they are to you an enemy?” An evil substitute for the wrongdoers.
So after that, can a person of reason, other than one who is aware of the most basic facts, claim or fabricate that this is… The Quran is not from Allah.
I would like to point out something before explaining the meaning of the noble verse to which the slander is attached. The enemies of Islam cite the false story of the cranes as evidence to confirm their claim that the Quran is inspired by Satan . I say that this story is not authentic in terms of its chain of transmission and its subject matter, as the scholars have said. That is, it is a mere false slander against the Messenger of Allah, for which there is no evidence from the Quran or Sunnah. It is absolutely not correct to rely on it or depend on it because it has no basis.
Someone will say, “As long as it is like this, why did it come in the books of the Muslims?” I say, “The basis for us is the Quran and the authentic Sunnah from the sayings and actions of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.” The meaning of an authentic Sunnah is a saying, action, or approval that is proven from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. Whatever contradicts that, we leave it and do not pay attention to it, even if it comes to us from the best scholars of the nation, unless it is an effort in something that has no basis. The story was narrated by al-Tabari and some of them followed him with chains of transmission that are not authentic and weak reports. So if a report comes to us that contradicts the Book of Allah, the Most High, we reject it. We did not pay attention to him because everyone takes from his words and rejects them except the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, because he is the one who conveyed the message from the Lord of the Worlds, and infallibility was buried with his death, peace and blessings be upon him.
There is nothing to prevent al-Tabari or al-Suyuti or others from mentioning a false or fabricated narration or hadith in his interpretation, which the transmitter thought was true, and transmitting it in this case is a matter of trustworthiness in knowledge in transmission. Rather, what al-Tabari or others mentioned as being true and established evidence for its truthfulness,
and our words should not be understood as an attack on the scholars of the nation, for they are men, but they have not been proven to be infallible in transmission. Al-Tabari’s interpretation is an effort on his part to interpret the words of the Lord of the Worlds, for which he will be rewarded.
Now, with the most important thing, with the meaning of the Most High’s statement: “Except when he wishes, Satan casts into his wish.” We say
, firstly, wishing and desire is something beloved to the soul, and there was nothing beloved to the souls of the prophets and messengers than worshipping God Almighty alone and guiding people to the truth. So the wish of every prophet or messenger is to guide and call his people to worship God, the One, the Compeller. This is proven in the Holy Qur’an in more than one place, and the Qur’an has proven the efforts of the prophets and messengers in calling their people, such as Noah, peace be upon him, who remained in… His people were about a thousand years old, and only a few believed with him, including Hud, peace be upon him, Salih, Lot, Shuaib, and Abraham, who said to his father, “O my father, do not worship Satan . Indeed, Satan has been disobedient to the Most Merciful.” And all of them did that, so that God Almighty rebuked the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, for his intense desire to guide his people, saying, “Perhaps you would kill yourself through grief over them, if they do not believe in this message.” So the wish of every prophet is to call people and guide them to good in the worship of God Almighty.
As for Satan , he wishes for the children of Adam to disbelieve and go astray and calls them to the Fire. God Almighty said on the tongue of Satan, may God curse him, “By Your might, I will surely mislead them all, except for Your sincere servants among them.” So Satan ’s wish is the misguidance and disbelief of mankind, by turning them away from the prophets and messengers and from the straight path, and by beautifying falsehood as truth and inciting them to fight the truth and its people, by fighting the prophets and messengers. This is also proven in more than one place in the Book of God Almighty. Therefore, God Almighty supports His messengers with the truth that He revealed to them. He said: Come on, it is a revelation from the Lord of the Worlds. It was brought down by the Trustworthy Spirit,
the most needy of the servants for the forgiveness of his Lord.
