Reply to the doubt: I will take you and raise you to me
May you die
We stop at this word, as we often take the meaning of words from the common, then other meanings die in the word and the common meaning prevails, so we understand the intent of the word.
The word (( al-tawwaf )) we understand it as death, but here we have to go back to the origin of the use of the word, as a meaning may prevail over a word, and this word is subject to multiple meanings, so one takes it to make it specific to one of these.
The word (( al-tawwaf )) may be taken by one to mean (( al-wifah )) which is death, but, was it not your Lord who said (( I will cause you to die ))? And He is the One who said in the Holy Quran,
Surah Al-An'am 60:
In the name
of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. And it is He who takes your souls by night and knows what you have committed by day. Then He resurrects you therein that a specified term may be fulfilled. Then to Him is your return. Then He will inform you of what you used to do
. So what does “ take you ” mean here? It means He puts you to sleep. Sleep is one of the meanings of taking. Did not the Truth also say in His Book, in which He said, “Indeed, I will cause you to die ” (
Surat Az-Zumar 42 )
In the name of
God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, “God takes the souls at the time of their death, and those that do not die during their sleep. Then He keeps those for whom He has decreed death and sends the others back for a specified term. Indeed in that are signs for a people who give thought
.” The Truth has also called sleep death. This is from the logic of the Qur’an. The logic of the Noble Qur’an has shown us that the word “at- Tawwafi ” does not only mean death, but it has other meanings. However, the word has become dominant among those who use the language over one meaning, so the word has become independent with this meaning. If the word is used by these people, it only refers to this meaning. To them, we say: No , we must carefully examine the word and why it came.
Someone might say : Why did God choose the word like this?
The answer is : Because the things that the mind might stop at do not affect the required rulings, and God comes with a method that tolerates this and tolerates that, so that no one will stop at a matter that does not deserve a pause.
So the one who believes that God raised Jesus, peace be upon him, to heaven, what did He add to him from the rulings of His religion? And the one who does not believe that Jesus, peace be upon him, was raised, what did He subtract from him from the rulings of His religion? This issue does not affect the rulings required for religion, but the mind might stop at it.
Someone might say : How did he ascend to heaven? And another might say: God took him.
And any person can believe as he wants because it does not affect the rulings required for religion.
So : the things that do not affect the ruling required of creation, God brings them in words that can be understood in more than one way so that the mind is not left confused in the face of a matter that neither harms nor benefits.
We now know that (( he died )) comes from death in the sense of sleep from His Almighty saying:
Surah Al-An’am 60
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
And it is He who takes you by night and knows what you have committed by day. Then He resurrects you therein that a specified term may be fulfilled. Then to Him is your return. Then He will inform you of what you used to do.
And from His saying, the Most High,
Surah Az-Zumar 42
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
God takes the souls at the time of their death and those that do not die during their sleep. Then He keeps those for whom He has decreed death and sends the others back for a specified term. Named : Indeed in that are signs for a people who give thought. Indeed,
the Truth, the Exalted, has called sleep death because sleep takes away the sense of life. The Arabic language explains this: For example
, you say to someone who has lent you a sum of money, and he asks you to give up some of it... You say: No , I must take back my money. When he gives you all of your money, you say to him: I have taken back my money completely. So, “I have taken back my money” here means: you have taken your money in full. So, the meaning of “ I have taken back your money ” may be that you have taken something in full. I say this so that we can understand the difference between death and killing, as both meet in that they are the taking away of life. The word “taking back life” may sometimes mean destroying the structure, such as one person hitting another on the skull and killing him. This is a type of taking away life, but by destroying the structure. Death does not occur by destroying the structure, but rather God takes the soul, and the structure remains as it is. Therefore, God differentiated in His wise Quran between (( death )) and (( killing )), even though they are united in taking life. Al Imran 144 In the name of God, the Most Gracious , the Most Merciful And Muhammad is no more than a messenger; messengers have passed on before him. So if he dies or is killed, will you turn back on your heels? And whoever turns back on his heels - never will it harm God at all. And God will reward the grateful. Indeed, death and killing each lead to the end of life, but killing ends life by destroying the structure, and therefore some humans have power over others and kill each other. But no one can say: (( I want so-and-so to die )), because death is what God does to His servants of taking away life by removing the soul. Humans are able to kill the structure, and the structure is not the one that removes the soul, but the soul resides in matter and lives, and when God removes it from matter, it dies and is thrown away, i.e. it becomes ashes. So killing is a violation of the special specifications that God wanted for the existence of the soul in matter, such as the integrity of the brain and heart. If something of these basic special specifications is disturbed, the soul says (( I do not live here )). If the soul is taken away, it is because it does not want to be taken away... for any reason, but the structure is not suitable for its habitation. Let us give an example, and God has the highest example: The electricity in the house is installed, and the presence of electricity is known by the lamp that emits light. The lamp did not bring light, because light does not appear except in a structure with these specifications, as evidenced by the fact that when the lamp breaks, the electricity remains there, but the light goes away.
The same applies to the soul in relation to the body. The soul only exists in a body with special specifications. The most important of these special specifications is that the cells of the structure are suitable. If the heart stops, it can be massaged before seven seconds have passed since stopping, but if the brain cells are corrupted, everything ends because the specifications are disturbed.
So : The soul only resides in a structure with special specifications, and killing is a basic means of destroying the structure and taking away life, but death is taking away life without destroying the structure, and no one is able to do that except Allah, the Almighty.
But Allah’s creation has power over the structure, because it is material and therefore they can destroy it.
So : ( Famtawfik ) means once the completion of something ( such as collecting money ) and once it means ( sleep ).
And when the Truth says: ( Indeed, I will take you ), what does that mean? He, the Almighty, wants to say: I want you complete
, meaning that My creation is not able to destroy your structure. I am seeking you complete, because you are exposed on earth to other humans, but I will bring you to a place where you will be purely for Me alone. I have taken you from humans completely, meaning that the soul is in your body with all its specifications, so those who are able to destroy matter will not be able to do so.
Therefore, the saying of the Truth: (( And will raise you to Me )), this wise saying comes in line with the saying of the Truth: (( will cause you to die )).
Someone might say: Why do we take death in this sense?
We say : The Truth, with His glorious power, was able to say: I will raise you to Me, then I will cause you to die after that... We also say: Who said that (( and )) requires order in the event? Did not the Truth, the Almighty, say
: { Then how was My punishment and My warning ? Did the punishment come before the warning or after it?} The punishment only comes after the warning. The “ and ” only indicates the plural of the two events. Didn’t Allah also say in His Book: “Al-Ahzab 7 In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful , And when We took from the prophets their covenant and from you and from Noah and Abraham and Moses and Jesus, the son of Mary. And We took from them a solemn covenant .” The “and ” does not require the order of events. Assuming that you have taken “ Mutawafik ” meaning “ Mamtaka ”, who said that the “ and ” requires the order of the event? Meaning that the Truth will take Jesus and then raise him up. So if someone says: Why did “ Mutawafik ” come first? We respond to that by saying : Because some people thought that raising up absolves him of death. But Jesus, peace be upon him, will certainly die, for death is a constant blow to him, and it is an issue that every human being goes through. This is what is said from the perspective of the Qur’anic text. If we go to the hadith, we find that God has delegated His Messenger, may God bless him and grant him peace, to explain and clarify. Did not the Truth say: An-Nahl 44 In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
With clear proofs and scriptures. And We have sent down to you the message that you may make clear to the people what was sent down to them and that they might give thought.
The hadith as narrated by Al-Bukhari and Muslim: ( How will you be when the son of Mary descends among you and your Imam is from among you ?)
That is, the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, explained to us that the son of Mary will descend again.
Let us now take a rational stand to confront the rationalists who are trying to tire themselves out in this world. We say: O rationalists, did you accept that Jesus, peace be upon him, came into existence without a father, in a manner other than the way of creation in creation and birth?
They will say: Yes.
Here we say : If you accepted the beginning of his birth as something wondrous and contrary to the laws, then how will you stand at the end of his life if it was contrary to the laws?
The One who made you accept the first wonder will pave the way for you to accept the second wonder. Allah, the Almighty, says:
Al Imran 55
In the name of
Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, When Allah said, “O Jesus, indeed I will take you and raise you to Myself and purify you from those who disbelieve and make those who follow you superior to those who disbelieve until the Day of Resurrection. Then to Me is your return, and I will judge between you concerning that over which you used to differ.”
Allah the Almighty informs Jesus, peace be upon him, that I will take you completely, beyond the control of humans, and purify you from the filth and impurity of these disbelievers, and make those who follow you superior to those who disbelieve until the Day of Resurrection.
The word “ follow ” indicates that there is a “ follower ” who follows the one who is followed.
That is, the one who is followed is the one who comes after. So who came after Jesus, peace be upon him, with a method from heaven?
It is our master Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace.
But what method are those who followed you on?
The method they came with or the method that you conveyed, O Jesus?
The one who follows you on a method other than the one you have mentioned will not be following you, but the one who comes to correct the situation on the correct method is the one who followed you.
Our master Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, came to correct the situation and convey the method as Allah wanted it, “ and make those who follow you superior to those who disbelieve until the Day of Resurrection .”
If we take the meaning as follows:
The nation of our master Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, is the one that followed the method of God that all the messengers brought, and Jesus also brought it down,
that the nation of our master Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, has corrected many of the issues that the people had deviated from.
The word “ follow ” indicates that there is a “ follower ” who follows the one who is followed.
That is, the one who is followed is the one who comes after. So who came after Jesus, peace be upon him, with a method from heaven?

Another evidence for the Christian objector from his Gospels that clarifies that the word death is used to refer to sleep.
John 11:11
He said this, and afterward he said to them, “Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep ; but I go to wake him up.” 12 Then his disciples said, “Lord, if he has fallen asleep, he will recover.” 13 Now Jesus spoke of his own death , but they thought he was speaking of the sleep of sleep. 14 Then Jesus said to them plainly, “Lazarus is dead.”
If the word death is used to refer to death, what prevents it from being attributed to Christ that he was raised to heaven while he was asleep? Was not our master Idris (Enoch) raised to heaven without dying?
Even if we assume that the meaning is real death... Does the Christian objector believe that Christ was raised while he was dead or was raised while he was alive?!!!
Also: -
51 And when he came to the house, he did not allow anyone to enter except Peter and James and John, and the father and mother of the child.
52 And they were all weeping and bewailing her . But he said, "Do not weep; she is not dead, but sleeping ."
53 And they laughed at him, knowing that she was dead .
54 Then he put them all out, and took her by the hand and called, saying, “Little girl, arise!”
55 And her spirit returned, and she arose immediately. And he commanded that something be given to her to eat.
