Among the criticisms directed at the Holy Quran by some fools and ignorant people is their claim that the Quran made a mistake in expressing the rotation of the bodies in the universe when it said, “ And each in an orbit floats ,” saying that the word “ floats ” is scientifically inaccurate, since the planets and stars do not float, but rather “ rotate ” in a vacuum, and swimming only occurs in a material medium such as water... Here is the text of this fool’s argument as written by his own hands:

And in the scale of the language came what is stated in the text of which is the letter seen, the letter ba, and the letter ha’ two roots: one is a type of worship, and the other is a type of striving . The first is the rosary, which is prayer, and the other root is swimming and swimming: floating in the water, from which is the saying of the Almighty: And those who swim swimming; The stars swim in the orbit, meaning they go in it spreading out as a swimmer swims in the water. And likewise his saying, “And each in an orbit swims,” meaning they move. He did not say swim because he described it with the action of someone who has reason. The scientific

definition of swimming is the rapid passage of a body with a density higher than the density of the medium through which it passes.... regardless of the presence of mechanical energy for this body or not, which the atheist spoke about above... and this is from the perspective of the atheist's definition of swimming according to his knowledge .



As for the other perspective, which is the point of view of the heroes of this doubt ... it is currently known among astronomers that the universe is full of matter and energy , so there is no vacuum at all, and therefore all cosmic bodies such as the Earth and the planets swim in this medium full of matter and energy spread throughout the universe but with low density, and this fact was not realized by man until a few years ago... with the beginning of the twenty-first century, a new fact emerged, which is the " Cosmic Building ", and scientists realized the existence of building blocks in the universe, as each group of galaxies forms a building block, and thus the entire universe is a solid structure... It also became clear to scientists that what they call space does not really exist, because vacuum does not exist in the universe at all, but rather every part of the universe, no matter how small, is occupied with energy and matter together, they called it " dark matter and dark energy "... and therefore the truth that appeared Modern is that the planets, stars and galaxies do not revolve in a vacuum or space, but rather they swim in a material and energetic medium together.


Then the word " rotates " is absolutely incorrect, because the movement of the sun, moon, earth, stars, planets, galaxies, dust and cosmic gas... they all move in a compound vibrational motion similar to a body floating on the surface of water and being moved by waves in a zigzag motion.
For example, the earth revolves around the sun, but it revolves with the sun around the center of the galaxy, and revolves with the galaxy around the center of the galaxy cluster, and the result of these three movements is a zigzag vibrational motion as if it were swimming on a wave, up and down.Hence, we find that the Qur’an does not use the word “ rotate ” but rather the word “ swim ” because it expresses the nature of the movement of these bodies....Therefore, the Qur’an’s expression with the word “ swim ” is very accurate from a scientific perspective.



After all of that, the pedantic scholar continues his ignorance by saying:

To become more certain of this fact, we turn to the statements of astronauts who have gone beyond the Earth's gravity. What did they feel while in space?! Everyone who has gone into space confirms that he felt as if he were floating on the surface of the water !! That is why we find scientists at NASA saying literally: " Astronauts feel like they are floating when they are in space ." This means that "astronauts feel as if they are floating when they are in space."

From here we understand why the Quran uses this precise expression . Allah the Almighty says: ( And it is He who created the night and the day and the sun and the moon; each is swimming in an orbit. ) [Al-Anbiya: 33]. We also realize that the more science develops and we learn more about the certain facts in the universe, the more we realize that the words of the Quran are the most accurate and the most correct from a scientific perspective, and not as some fools and ignorant people claim that the Quran contradicts itself or that its words are inaccurate.

We will show them Our signs in the horizons and within themselves until it becomes clear to them that it is the truth.

The sun shall not overtake the moon, nor shall the night outstrip the day. They all float, each in an orbit. (40)

And Mujahid said the same: The spindle does not revolve except by the orbit, and the orbit does not revolve except by the spindle. Likewise, the stars, the sun, and the moon do not revolve except by it, and it does not revolve except by them, as God Almighty said: (He splits the dawn and has made the night for rest and the sun and the moon for reckoning. That is the determination of the Almighty, the Knowing .) Al-An’am/96. End quote.
“Tafsir al-Qur’an al-‘Azeem” (5/341)
and the scholar al-Qurtubi (may Allah have mercy on him) says:
“(Each) means the sun, moon, stars, planets, night and day (swims in an orbit) meaning: they run and move quickly like a swimmer in water.” End quote.
“Al-Jami’ li Ahkam al-Qur’an” (11/286)
As for the verses restricting the running and swimming of the heavenly bodies to being (in an orbit), the scholars differed in interpreting its form, shape and reality with many opinions, but they ultimately agree on the intended meaning, which is that all the heavenly bodies, including stars, the sun and moon, run and swim in a specific orbit, meaning: a specific orbit and a specific range, and they do not collide with others, nor do their paths deviate.
The scholar Taher Ibn Ashour, may God have mercy on him, says:
“And the heavens: the linguists interpreted it as the orbit of the stars, and the commentators of this verse interpreted it likewise, and they did not mention that it is used in this meaning in the speech of the Arabs.

did the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, know that night and day revolve in an orbit? There is no doubt that the rotation of night and day in an orbit is achieved by the rotation of the earth, on which night and day fall, around itself and around the sun.
